Range of services

Emptying the bins

50 000 bins are picked up, emptied and replaced in one day by 140 collection teams. Property managements can order additional services for the bin area.

The container service

For bulky waste, construction waste, wood, iron, paper and garden waste, skips from 10 to 32 cubic metres are used; these are transported with hook- and skiploaders.

The hazardous waste collection truck

For comfortable separate collection of household hazardous waste, special trucks make their rounds according to a fixed schedule. They stop at 52 locations.

The bulky waste collection service

To have bulky waste and refrigerators conveniently picked up at home costs 27 euros for each quarter hour of loading time. For express collections or collections at a specific time, this service costs 65 euros for the first quarter hour and 40 euros for each additional one.

The 12 recycling yards

More than 30 different types of waste – from aquariums to zinc gutters – can be brought here and disposed of for free. 6 days a week, 55 hours in all.

Halle 2 - the secondhand store

Still usable things from the recycling yards (furniture, books, toys and more) are sold at the "Halle 2". The prices are cheap so that Munich citizens with financial difficulties can still afford to buy these articles. More information you can find here.

The Munich Fleamarket Website

The "Münchner Flohmarktportal" is a website especially for smaller fleamarkets in Munich organized by churches, schools, kindergatens and so on. This website is for buyers, sellers and organizations. More information here.

The Freimann Waste Disposal Area

The area in the north of Munich is the address for deliverers of large quantities. The following items can be brought for a charge: bulky waste, asbestos, contaminated soil, wood, nonferrous metals, cables, scrap, electric and electronic scrap and much more. Packaging can be delivered at no charge. This area is Munich’s landfill site, too.

The Munich North incineration plant

MVA (for Müllverbrennungsanlage, or incineration plant) North is equipped with the most modern environmental technology. Roughly 640 000 megagrams of waste are incinerated each year.
The energy is used year-round for district heating and power generation (cogeneration).

The Information Center: 089 233 96200

Whether by telephone or E-Mail, the Information Center is the contact point for all questions, wishes and complaints. Calls are taken from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday. Questions by telephone can be answered only in German.

The Info-Mobile

City neighbourhood festival, environmental days or recycling market – the AWM Information Mobile comes to the citizens and provides information on the spot. The Munich waste quiz turns the consultation into a game.

The informative material

For private households and commercial enterprises, there are brochures and leaflets, free of charge - even by mail. Stickers for bins and mailboxes round out the offer.
